Production

Fattoria Mantellassi, a leading winery in Tuscany that played a decisive role in the establishment of the Morellino di Scansano DOC in 1978.The Mantellassi family, originally from the Pistoia area, moved to the Scansano and Magliano region around 1860. Having always been winegrowers, in 1960 they began planting the first four hectares of vineyards in the Banditaccia area; today there are around one hundred. Fattoria Mantellassi covers 215 hectares across the hills of the Maremma in the municipality of Magliano in Toscana. The soil is tuff-limestone in nature, with a vineyard composition consisting mainly of red grape varieties: Sangiovese, Alicante, Cabernet Sauvignon, Morellino, Merlot, Canaiolo Nero, Malvasia Nera and Ciliegiolo; and white grape varieties: Vermentino and Sauvignon. Average values per 100 ml: Energy = 297 kJ/71 kcal

Organoleptic Characteristics

The Maremma Toscana DOC Maestrale by Mantellassi is a Tuscan red wine made from 100% Ciliegiolo, aged in stainless steel tanks and left to rest for several months in the bottle. It presents a bright ruby red colour; on the nose, there are pleasant notes of cherry and raspberry, fresh flowers and a hint of rose. The palate is smooth, with a pleasant freshness; a perfect wine to enjoy a few months after bottling.

Occasion and Pairing

This red wine is ideal for everyday drinking and pairs well with traditional Tuscan cured meats.

Serving Temperature

Since its foundation, the Fattoria Cantina Mantellassi has made a name for itself due to its innovative production process and constantly evolving activity, which has enabled it to become one of the most important reference points in wine growing in Tuscany in a short time. Established in the heart of the Banditaccia area, the company started with just four hectares of vineyards. Their hard work and commitment have enabled them to reach and surpass one hundred hectares over the course of a few decades, all of which are dedicated to the creation of Tuscan wines of the highest quality. Not only that: thanks to its work, this winery contributed decisively to the establishment of the Morellino di Scansano controlled designation of origin. It is still considered one of the most prestigious wine producers in Tuscany. Culture and respect for the land have proved to be indispensable characteristics for enhancing the unique characteristics of the tuffaceous-calcareous soils with an ampelographic base.
