TASTING NOTES

Production

The Il Convento distillery was founded in Italy as an expression of craftsmanship and tradition in the production of traditional liqueurs. The Liquorice Liqueur is made from a careful selection of liquorice roots, processed to extract their full aromatic intensity. An Italian liqueur produced through infusion and subsequent blending, to preserve the authentic character of the raw material.

Organoleptic Characteristics

Deep, impenetrable black in colour, it releases a bold, enveloping aroma with deep notes of pure liquorice and light balsamic undertones. It impresses with its intensity and aromatic persistence. Il Convento’s Liquorice Liqueur is dense and velvety on the palate, with a full-bodied, bittersweet and well-balanced flavour. The finish is long and lingering, with a distinct return of liquorice and refreshing sensations.

Occasion and Pairing

Ideal as a digestif after a meal, it is also perfect for accompanying chocolate desserts, ice cream or for enjoying on its own during moments of relaxation. Excellent also as an ingredient in original cocktails.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, the Liquorice Liqueur should be served at a temperature of 4–6°C.

Allergens: Solfiti

THE WINERY

Il Convento

The story of the Il Convento farm is the realisation of a dream. After years of hard work spent in the fields owned by the Franciscan friars of Sorrento, farmer Antonio Pollio proudly took over the property. Handing down the respect for nature and the land from generation to generation, the Pollio family has been dedicated to the cultivation of the famous Sorrento lemons since 1935, the skin of which is used to make a unique limoncello. The Pollio family's link with the friars of the convent is one of the peculiarities of this Campania estate: it seems that the first fruits of the harvest were offered as a gift to the Prior, and that the image of San Francesco was placed on the wine barrels as a sign of protection and good luck. Even today, the utmost attention is still paid to the quality and care of the soil, whose characteristics make it possible to preserve the maximum authenticity of the lemons, particularly the prized “ovale di Sorrento I.G.P.” variety. The result is an intense, fragrant and brightly coloured liqueur, excellent as a digestive or to be enjoyed with a dessert, perhaps a typical Neapolitan one. Name and address of producer/distributor: Il Convento - Via Bagnulo, 10, 80061 Massa Lubrense (NA). Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
