TASTING NOTES

The Allegrini company is certainly an illustrious name in Italy and one of the most historic in Valpolicella. Right from the start a very young Giovanni Allegrini showed great skills in winemaking but also particular attention to the vineyard. His children Franco and Marilisa took over the business after his death in 1983. The winery is located in Fumane, on the outskirts of Verona, in the heart of Valpolicella, one of the most prestigious and interesting areas of the Italian wine scene, producer of the famous Amarone della Valpolicella. It is located in western Veneto, between Verona and Lake Garda, bounded to the north by the Lessini Mountains and extends for about 240 kilometres with a vineyard area of about 6,000 hectares. Grappa di Amarone is produced with Corvina grape pomace, Rondinella and Oseleta and is distilled in copper stills in a continuous and discontinuous cycle after which it is left to rest for 12 months in oak barrels thus bringing greater general softness. Amber in colour, it releases notes above all of cherry, derived from the grapes of origin, leaving room for more complex notes dictated by the ageing in wood. The drink is warm, soft and persistent, a real caress for the palate. Perfect for enjoying after a relaxing Sunday lunch.
