TASTING NOTES

Today, the Marzadro Distillery has reached the third generation with a distillation plant that sees as many as 8 discontinuous stills fed in a bain-marie, this means that the pomace is distilled with a much slower process capable of producing the best possible distillate. A second special edition of his Grappa Stravecchia, Le Diciotto Lune Riserva Botte Porto comes from an additional eighteen months of ageing, in a limited number of selected barrels, previously used for the refinement of Port Wine. This further step gives even more toasted and sweet notes to the grappa which is darker, more enveloping and harmonious. The grapes used for the distillation of this product are Marzemino, Teroldego and Merlot as regards the red berried grapes and for the white berried grapes Chardonnay and Moscato. During tasting it reveals all its uniqueness. Bright amber colour. Sweet flavours of acacia honey, toasted almonds, cinnamon and hints of fine spices. With greater attention, notes of small red fruits and toffee can also be perceived. In the mouth it is velvety, soft and right in the alcoholic endowment. Long finish. The Marzadro winery was founded in the immediate post-war period and, from the very beginning, was active in the distillation of high-quality grappas and fine liqueurs. The dream and passion of its founder has been handed down from generation to generation, as has knowledge of the territory and all the secrets for the production of Trentino wines of excellence. The distillery itself was built with love and dedication, in total harmony with the surrounding area, and the respect for nature and the landscape can still be recognised today. The winery itself seems suspended in time, as does its production, which still relies on many traditional techniques. With the passing of time, there have been additions with more modern and cutting edge techniques, allowing the winery to keep up with the times while maintaining a strictly historical imprint and great care for the land through organic and sustainable viticulture.
