TASTING NOTES

The Ferghettina winery was founded in 1990 when Roberto Gatti and his wife Andreina took over 4 hectares of land in the municipality of Erbusco, in the heart of Franciacorta, in Lombardy, one of Italy's most famous areas for sparkling wine due to the quality of its bubbles. In 1992, he produced his Franciacorta and after a short time, the company expanded and today Ferghettina manages 200 hectares of vineyards using organic farming methods, spread over 11 communes in Franciacorta. Ferghettina has been continuously growing for 20 years and there is no doubt that today it is one of the most important institutions in Franciacorta. Ferghettina is above all a family matter, everything is managed by Roberto and Andreina, with the important help of their two children Laura and Matteo, both oenologists. It is from the best selections of pinot noir from different plots that Ferghettina's Franciacorta DOCG Brut Rosé is born, which has a particularity that immediately jumps out at us: the “square” bottle. Studied and patented by Roberto's son Matteo: the sparkling wine ageing on yeasts has a larger contact surface area in the square bottle than in a round bottle, which enriches the wine with aromatic components. This rosé, aged on yeast for 36 months, stands out for its finesse and elegance. A wonderful pink colour, onion skin, with a fine and persistent perlage. On the nose, notes of bread crust turn to hints of small, freshly picked red fruit. On the mouth, it is fresh, firm, fine and well structured. Also excellent as an aperitif, the Rosé di Ferghettina can accompany the menu of a romantic dinner, even better if it is based on fish and shellfish.
