The Pecchenino farm was founded towards the end of the 18th century and has been family-run ever since, and the farms have been passed down from father to son. It now boasts an area of approximately 32 hectares, of which 26 are located in the Municipality of Dogliani and 3 in the Municipality of Monforte d'Alba. The Dogliani area is typical for the Dolcetto grape variety, whose presence is found as early as 1432 in a manuscript found in the municipal archives. The company is 70% Dolcetto and the remainder Barbera, Nebbiolo, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc. The company also has land in the municipality of Monforte d'Alba, one of the most suitable areas for the production of Barolo wine. The average annual production is 100,000 bottles of 75cl. Dogliani San Luigi is a Piedmontese red wine based on Dolcetto whose vineyards are grown on the Dogliani estate, at an altitude between 390 and 430 metres above sea level, on predominantly calcareous soils. Fermentation takes place in steel tanks, with maceration on the skins lasting for about 10 days. The wine ages for several months in steel tanks before bottling. 100 ml: 313 kJ/75 kcal
In the calyx it is a deep purple-red colour. On the nose it is fruity, with notes of ripe cherry, red fruit, black cherry, and morello cherry standing out. On the palate it is structured but easy to drink, with a well-balanced tannin in the juice and a pleasantly bitter and almondy finish.
Perfect wine for everyday life, we recommend it in combination with cured meats or first courses of meat.
To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a serving temperature of 16/18°C.
