TASTING NOTES

The two Friulano crus of I Clivi originate from two distinct vineyards, a few kilometres away from each other, which fall within two different designation of origin areas and also two distinct provinces, one in the Collio Goriziano and the other in the Colli Orientali of Friuli, covering a total area of 12 hectares. These two vineyards bear the names of Brazan and Galea respectively and have their roots in soils with a virtually identical geological component, which means that the microclimate, mainly linked to the winds, is the determining factor in the different personalities perceptible in the wines. The Brazan comes from 80-year-old vines. Similarly to Galea, it ages entirely in stainless steel, with an 18-month rest on the fine lees, in which the white wine is enriched with its aromatic and flavour components. The bright colour, scent of wild flowers, anise and pink grapefruit, which give way to marked balsamic notes, full-bodied on the palate but supported by a full flavour in the mouth, make Brazan a Friulian wine of great depth. It can be opened for an aperitif with friends, as well as enjoyed as an accompaniment to white meat, fish and shellfish dishes. Read more Read less
THE WINERY

I Clivi

Very old and mostly indigenous vines are to be found in the vineyards of i Clivi, a point of reference in the production of Ribolla Gialla in Friuli Venezia Giulia. Most are between 40 and 60 years old, but in some plots there are specimens not far from a century old. Sinking their roots into sandstone soil, they have a low yield per hectare, which guarantees the natural concentration and complexity of their fruit. Guarding such an important heritage, the Zanusso family has made territoriality and longevity the keywords of its business since 1996. The property's twelve hectares are divided into two DOC zones with different microclimates and are cultivated with different varieties: Ribolla Gialla, Friulano, Verduzzo and Malvasia. In the I Clivi winery, the grapes are processed avoiding the use of machinery as much as possible in order to preserve their integrity and uniqueness. The result of such finesse are white wines and sparkling wines with great personality and character, yet at the same time as light as a caress for the palate. Name and address of producer/distributor: I Clivi - Loc. Gramogliano 20, 33040 Corno di Rosazzo UD. Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
