Bollinger’s Champagne Brut La Grande Année is a vintage cuvée produced exclusively in vintages deemed exceptional, the ultimate expression of the Maison’s style. It is crafted from a blend dominated by Pinot Noir, sourced largely from the finest crus of the Montagne de Reims, with the addition of selected Chardonnay. The grapes are harvested by hand and vinified traditionally in small oak barrels, a hallmark of Bollinger, which imparts structure and complexity. The second fermentation takes place according to the Méthode Champenoise, with a very long ageing on the lees that lends depth, elegance and an extraordinary capacity for development. The Brut dosage is perfectly calibrated to enhance purity, balance and expressive power.
Visually, it presents an intense, luminous golden-yellow colour, with a very fine, persistent perlage. On the nose, it is deep and complex, with aromas of ripe yellow-fleshed fruit, candied citrus and dried fruit, accompanied by notes of brioche, hazelnut, sweet spices, honey and delicate toasted nuances. On the palate, it is full-bodied, structured and enveloping, with creamy bubbles, well-integrated freshness and great intensity of flavour. The finish is extremely long, elegant and persistent, with mineral and spicy notes that underline its nobility.
A Champagne of great prestige and character, ideal for important occasions and memorable tasting moments. It pairs magnificently with haute cuisine dishes, premium shellfish, full-bodied fish, fine white meats and medium-aged cheeses. Also extraordinary as a meditation wine.
To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 8–10°C.
