TASTING NOTES

Production

Krug’s Grande Cuvée Brut is made from a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes, and is aged for a full 7 years in the French Maison’s underground cellars, developing greater expressiveness and elegance. E = 314 kJ/75 kcal per 100 ml

Organoleptic Characteristics

Bright straw-yellow in colour, Krug Champagne features lively bubbles and pleasant notes of ripe fruit, such as yellow apple, and citrus fruits like lemon and mandarin. Floral aromas unfold upon pouring into the glass, followed by spicy notes of marzipan and ginger. On the palate, mineral and salty nuances are perceived on the finish.

Occasion and Pairing

Krug Grande Cuvée Brut is ideal with delicate, sophisticated dishes, such as grilled turbot with aged Parmesan and truffle. It is also delightful as an aperitif with prosciutto, or served with oysters, grilled prawns, or with desserts such as carrot cake, tarte tatin or cheesecake.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 8–10°C.

THE WINERY

Krug

Maison Krug was founded in Reims back in 1843 by Joseph Krug, a non-conformist visionary driven by an ambitious awareness. His dream was to make the best Vintage in the world, paying special attention to the uniqueness of each plot, vineyard and wine with the creation of a wide selection of reserve vintage. Today, the house is led by the sixth generation with Olivier Krug. Every year, and only once a year, only one blending, only one bottling and therefore only one new Édition of Krug Grande Cuvée is created. The bottle created represents a truly unique work of art, made up of textures and contrasts characterised by a fullness of aromas and flavours, then maturing for at least seven years. Maison Krug's desire is to bring together the most complete sensory experience that a Champagne can offer on the palate. An important pillar of Krug's craftsmanship excellence is the concept of individuality, i.e. the art of turning each plot into a different wine and following its individual character before making any decisions on blending. This type of work allows the Chef de Cave to identify and distinguish wines from individual vineyards that could enrich the creations of the vintage produced and therefore consider them Reserve Wines. Name and address of producer/distributor: Maison Krug, 5, rue Coquebert - 51100 Reims - France. Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
