TASTING NOTES

Brunello di Montalcino Riserva di Biondi Santi is a wine of extraordinary richness and longevity. Traditionally the grapes for the Reserve come from the oldest vineyards, with over 25 years of age. At the heart of the ancient winery of Tenuta Greppo lies a room jealously guarded away from light and noise, dedicated exclusively to the aging of Brunello Riserva. The Sangiovese Grosso grapes are harvested and selected manually and vinified in vertical Slavonian oak barrels with the use of indigenous yeasts. It then ages for 3 years in Slavonian oak barrels. It has a very intense ruby red color, while the nose is compact with notes of dark cherry, pomegranate and orange. The Mediterranean note gives off hints of thyme, rosemary and sage to which are added floral sensations of red roses, violet and undergrowth. On the palate it is seductive and full of charm, it spreads gently and the tannins make note of the structure and freshness that cleans the palate. Aftertaste and very long and savory finish. Great red wine for meditation and with a strong aging potential. To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a serving temperature of 16/18 ºC. Read more Read less
THE WINERY

Biondi Santi

In the area of Montalcino and Pienza in the province of Siena, is the Biondi Santi winery, on the Tenuta Greppo estate. In an area known worldwide for its fine Tuscan red wines, Biondi Santi stands out for its Brunello, which has been produced, innovated and improved since the 19th century. After Clemente Santi started winemaking thanks studying the Sangiovese Grosso typical of the area, the winery still remains closely linked to its origins and history, recognised internationally for the production of sophisticated, elegant and refined wines. All while paying the utmost attention to organic and sustainable viticulture. With 25 hectares of vineyards, the estate produces no more than 80,000 bottles a year, including 10,000 of Brunello Riserva. The prestige of these Tuscan wines is influenced by many factors. Only the best grapes are selected, from vineyards that are at least 10 years old - and 25 years old for the Riserva. After being harvested completely by hand, the grapes are destemmed, crushed and fermented, which takes place at a controlled temperature in cement vats and tanks. Finally, the wine ages in oak barrels and is bottled no less than four years after harvest. Name and address of producer/distributor: Biondi Santi - Villa Greppo, 183, 53024 Montalcino - Siena - Italia. Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
