Mastrojanni’s Brunello di Montalcino is produced in the south-eastern part of the Montalcino region, characterised by a warmer and windier climate, ideal for the full and even ripening of Sangiovese. The grapes, exclusively Sangiovese, come from the estate’s own vineyards, cultivated with great attention to yields and quality. The grapes are harvested by hand and vinification is carried out in the traditional manner, with fermentation in steel vats and extended maceration on the skins. Ageing takes place for an extended period in large oak barrels, followed by further ageing in the bottle, allowing the wine to fully express its balance, structure and regional character.
On the nose, it is intense and harmonious, with aromas of ripe cherry, plum and small red berries, accompanied by floral notes of violet and wilted rose, sweet spices, tobacco and light balsamic undertones. On the palate, it is full-bodied and elegant, with tannins that are distinct yet smooth, good freshness and a solid structure that supports a long, balanced and persistent finish.
A wine of great personality and versatility, ideal for special occasions but also for accompanying fine lunches and dinners. It pairs perfectly with red meats, roasts, braised dishes, game and traditional Tuscan dishes, as well as mature cheeses.
To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 16–18°C.
