TASTING NOTES

A flagship wine, crafted from a Bordeaux-style blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. The grapes are hand-picked and destemmed, with only the ripest clusters selected manually in the cellar. After a brief fermentation period in steel vats, the wine is allowed to mature in wood for an additional year. At the end of this period, the best lots are blended and aged for another 6 months in small barrels before bottling. Bolgheri Rosso Superiore Tenuta Guado al Tasso presents a deep ruby red color. Its intense and complex aromas initially evoke ripe red fruit, gradually unfolding into spicy and woody notes, with hints of chocolate and leather. On the palate, it captivates with its balance, harmony, and elegance. A collectible bottle that can age for over 10 years in the cellar, it is perfect for savoring in front of a warm fireplace, paired with a selection of lightly aged cheeses. To fully appreciate its style, Guado al Tasso should be served at a temperature of 16-18°C.

Belonging to the historic and renowned Marchesi Antinori wine family, the Guado al Tasso winery enjoys an excellent international reputation despite only being established in 1994. Situated in the Upper Maremma Tuscany, in the area of Bolgheri, it covers about 320 hectares, set in the beautiful setting of the so-called “Bolgherese amphitheatre”, a plain surrounded by wooded hills stretching down to the sea. It is the particularity of this setting that provides a unique microclimate to the vineyards cultivated here. The usual temperature fluctuations to which they are exposed guarantee that the grapes have a strong aromatic flavour and perfect maturation. In fact, compared to the other Antinori estates, such as the majestic Castello della Sala, at the Guado al Tasso winery the harvest is usually carried out at the end of August, rather than in September. Soils of heterogeneous composition, composed of clay, sand, silt or pebbles, are home to both French red grapes from which prestigious red wines, such as Cabernet Sauvignon, are produced, and to vines from which remarkable white wines and roses are produced.
