TASTING NOTES

Production

Once brought to the cellar, the grapes are gently pressed, and the resulting must undergoes long macerations that can last up to 30 days. The fermentation takes place in Austrian wooden vats without toasting. It is then transferred to aging in oak barrels of various sizes for a period of 48 months. A final resting period in the bottle prepares it for commercialization.

Organoleptic Characteristics

Francia Barolo by Giacomo Conterno presents a ruby red color that shifts towards garnet hues. Its bouquet promises a complexity waiting to be discovered: cherry, small forest fruits, licorice, mentholated notes, toasted aromas, and a hint of leather. On the palate, it asserts a bold and powerful character, perfectly balanced with an appealing charm. The persistence is very long on the finish, as is its potential for aging.

Occasion and Pairing

It pairs beautifully with important dishes, such as slow-cooked lamb shank, game-flavored dishes, or aged cheeses.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 16-18°C.

Allergens: Solfiti

THE WINERY

Conterno

In the municipality of Monforte d'Alba, in the Piedmont countryside, lies the Conterno Winery. Here, the family of the same name that founded the winery is committed to producing and bottling its Barolo in search of the best balance and perfect quality. The winery's constant work has allowed it to evolve into the great establishment it is today, where the oldest traditions are still carefully followed, alongside the most modern and avant-garde techniques, to offer high-quality Piedmontese wines and unmistakably stylish red wines from Piedmont. Since it was founded, the fame of Conterno wines has spread throughout the area, giving the winery a meteoric rise. The success, however, has not affected the stable foundations of the family, which still works together in its production chain today. Their strengths remain the same: care for tradition, a search for expression of the terroir and a deep respect for what Piedmontese nature has to offer. Name and address of producer/distributor: Conterno - Via Ginestra, 1, 12065 Monforte d'Alba (CN). Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
