TASTING NOTES

Production

After a meticulous selection of the grapes and fermentation, the wine is aged in large Austrian oak barrels. During the aging process, the Monfortino parcels are monitored daily to ensure they meet the extremely high quality standards that Conterno imposes for this wine. After six years in barrel, Monfortino is further aged in bottle before being released on the market.

Organoleptic Characteristics

In the glass, Monfortino presents a ruby red color, dense with garnet hues. The complexity on the nose is both overwhelming and clear at the same time, with notes of red fruit in alcohol intertwining with spicy sensations of licorice, potpourri, alongside balsamic and bergamot hints. The taste surprises with the magnificent balance between the wine's full-bodied, structured character and its savory, dynamic, and lifted side, which lingers on the palate thanks to textbook tannins.

Occasion and Pairing

Drinking Monfortino is a unique experience of absolute pleasure, which is why it is recommended to savor it on special occasions, either on its own or paired with significant game dishes.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 16-18°C.

THE WINERY

Conterno

In the municipality of Monforte d'Alba, in the Piedmont countryside, lies the Conterno Winery. Here, the family of the same name that founded the winery is committed to producing and bottling its Barolo in search of the best balance and perfect quality. The winery's constant work has allowed it to evolve into the great establishment it is today, where the oldest traditions are still carefully followed, alongside the most modern and avant-garde techniques, to offer high-quality Piedmontese wines and unmistakably stylish red wines from Piedmont. Since it was founded, the fame of Conterno wines has spread throughout the area, giving the winery a meteoric rise. The success, however, has not affected the stable foundations of the family, which still works together in its production chain today. Their strengths remain the same: care for tradition, a search for expression of the terroir and a deep respect for what Piedmontese nature has to offer. Name and address of producer/distributor: Conterno - Via Ginestra, 1, 12065 Monforte d'Alba (CN). Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
