TASTING NOTES

Production

The Barolo Riserva Monfortino by Giacomo Conterno is a high-quality red wine, produced only in exceptional vintages from Nebbiolo grapes from the Francia cru in Serralunga d'Alba. The vinification follows traditional methods, with spontaneous fermentation in oak vats and long macerations. The aging takes place in large Austrian oak barrels for about six years, followed by an additional period in bottle.

Organoleptic Characteristics

The Monfortino presents a deep garnet red color. On the nose, it offers a complex and intense bouquet, with notes of ripe red fruit, spices, tobacco, and licorice. On the palate, it is powerful, structured, and elegant, with silky tannins and a persistent finish that evokes balsamic and mineral notes.

Occasion and Pairing

This wine pairs perfectly with well-seasoned dishes based on red meats, game, and aged cheeses. It is ideal for special occasions, elegant dinners, and moments of wine contemplation.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 18–20°C.

Allergens: Solfiti

THE WINERY

Conterno

In the municipality of Monforte d'Alba, in the Piedmont countryside, lies the Conterno Winery. Here, the family of the same name that founded the winery is committed to producing and bottling its Barolo in search of the best balance and perfect quality. The winery's constant work has allowed it to evolve into the great establishment it is today, where the oldest traditions are still carefully followed, alongside the most modern and avant-garde techniques, to offer high-quality Piedmontese wines and unmistakably stylish red wines from Piedmont. Since it was founded, the fame of Conterno wines has spread throughout the area, giving the winery a meteoric rise. The success, however, has not affected the stable foundations of the family, which still works together in its production chain today. Their strengths remain the same: care for tradition, a search for expression of the terroir and a deep respect for what Piedmontese nature has to offer. Name and address of producer/distributor: Conterno - Via Ginestra, 1, 12065 Monforte d'Alba (CN). Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
