This Barolo Riserva is made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes from the Fossati – Case Nere cru, in the municipality of La Morra. The designation “10 Anni” indicates a total ageing period of approximately ten years prior to release, involving extended maturation in wood (barriques and French oak barrels) and bottle ageing. Roberto Voerzio’s winemaking style is characterised by extremely low yields, rigorous selection of the grapes and the maximum expression of the vineyard, resulting in a Barolo of great depth and longevity.
An intense, compact garnet red, with orange hues that bear witness to the wine’s evolution and maturity. A complex, layered bouquet: notes of wilted rose, cherries preserved in alcohol and ripe plum, followed by tertiary notes of tobacco, leather, bitter cocoa, liquorice, dark spices and undergrowth, with hints of balsamic and mineral notes. On the palate, it is deep, powerful and harmonious. The tannins are dense but perfectly smoothed by ageing, supported by a freshness that remains vivid. The finish is very long and elegant, with spicy, mineral and slightly toasty notes.
It pairs well with dishes of great structure and complexity such as braised and stewed red meats, substantial game (deer, wild boar, hare) and dishes featuring white truffle.
To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 18–20°C.
