Bartolo Mascarello Barolo is an elegant Piedmontese red wine, considered a symbol of the classic Langhe tradition. It is handcrafted from Nebbiolo grapes grown in four historic crus (Cannubi, San Lorenzo, Rue and Rocche di La Morra), whose grapes are blended from the outset rather than vinified separately. Fermentation takes place in concrete tanks with indigenous yeasts, and the wine is aged for around 30 months in large Slavonian oak casks, without the use of barriques.
In the glass, it presents an intense garnet red colour, tending towards orange as it develops. On the nose, it opens slowly with complex, layered aromas of dried rose, violet, sweet spices, liquorice, cherries in alcohol, truffle, leather and subtle balsamic and earthy notes. On the palate, it reveals great structure and depth, with firm yet finely integrated tannins, a vibrant acidity that underpins the overall balance, and a long, elegant, dry and harmonious finish.
This Barolo is at its best when paired with rich, structured dishes such as braised meats, roast game, mature hard cheeses, white truffle dishes and risottos with porcini mushrooms. It is ideal for formal occasions, important dinners and celebrations.
To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 18–20°C.
