TASTING NOTES

Production

Luciano Sandrone's Barolo Cannubi Boschis was born in the Barolo cru of the same name, one of the most renowned and renowned historic vineyards in the appellation. It is produced exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes, manually selected from low-yielding vineyards and grown with great attention to quality. Winemaking takes place in steel with long, delicate macerations on the skins, to extract structure, aromas and elegant tannins without losing finesse. The aging takes place in French oak barriques and tonneaux, partly new and partly second-pass, for a period of approximately 18–24 months, followed by further aging in the bottle that completes the harmony and complexity. The style aims to combine depth, elegance and longevity, typical of the Cannubi Boschis cru.

Organoleptic Characteristics

It appears to be a deep ruby red color with garnet reflections. On the nose it is refined and complex, with scents of ripe cherry, plum, berries, accompanied by floral notes of rose and violet, sweet spices, cocoa, tobacco and light balsamic and mineral nuances. On the palate it is elegant and structured, with silky tannins, a vibrant freshness and a balanced and deep taste texture. The finish is long, persistent and harmonious, with fruity, spicy and mineral returns that underline its territorial character.

Occasion and Pairing

Barolo of great elegance and complexity, ideal for special occasions and conscious tastings. It pairs beautifully with quality red meats, braised meats, roasts, game and aged cheeses.

Serving Temperature

To best appreciate its structure, elegance and depth, a service temperature of 16/18°C is recommended.

THE WINERY

Luciano Sandrone

Luciano Sandrone is one of the most emblematic and influential estates in contemporary Barolo, a symbol of rigor, elegance, and deep dedication to the Langhe territory. Founded in the late 1970s by its namesake producer, the winery was born from the desire to interpret Nebbiolo through a modern lens while remaining profoundly respectful of tradition, focusing on expressive precision, stylistic purity, and the absolute valorization of individual crus. From the very beginning, Sandrone has stood out for a clear vision: to craft wines capable of uniting structure and finesse, power and harmony, authentically expressing the identity of Barolo and its hills. The vineyards are located in the heart of the Barolo appellation, with historic parcels such as Cannubi Boschis, one of the most renowned and highly regarded crus, along with other selections in the municipalities of Barolo and Novello. Here, on marl-limestone soils of extraordinary complexity, Nebbiolo achieves an expression of great depth, marked by precise aromatics, refined tannic structure, and remarkable aging potential. Vineyard management is meticulous and respectful, oriented toward sustainability and maximum care, with the aim of bringing perfectly ripe, healthy grapes into the cellar. Winemaking follows a precise and coherent approach: controlled fermentations, measured extractions, and carefully calibrated aging, often in French oak barriques, used intelligently to enhance the wine without overpowering the character of the grape variety and its terroir. Alongside Nebbiolo, the undisputed protagonist, the estate also produces Dolcetto and Barbera, interpreted with the same level of attention and quality. The result is wines of great balance and personality, intense yet never excessive, capable of combining immediate appeal with depth, pleasure with long-term evolution. Every bottle signed Luciano Sandrone represents a constant pursuit of excellence, an honest expression of the Langhe and Barolo, created to inspire emotion and stand the test of time. Producer/Distributor name and address: Luciano Sandrone Azienda Agricola - Via San Giovanni, 33, 12060 Barolo (CN), Italy. The winery’s products should be stored in a cool, dry place, away from sources of heat.
