TASTING NOTES

Production

Roberto Voerzio’s Barolo Brunate is made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes from the prestigious Brunate cru, situated between the municipalities of La Morra and Barolo. Production is extremely rigorous: very low yields, hand-harvesting and a winemaking process focused on maximising concentration and fruit expression. Ageing takes place in barriques and French oak barrels, over long, carefully calibrated periods, to produce a wine of great structure yet elegant at the same time.

Organoleptic Characteristics

A deep, luminous garnet red, with ruby highlights in the younger vintages. A broad, intense bouquet: ripe red fruits (cherry, raspberry), rose and violet, followed by notes of sweet spices, cocoa, tobacco, liquorice and light balsamic nuances. On the palate, it is powerful, enveloping and precise. The tannic structure is dense and silky, supported by great concentration and remarkable balance. The finish is very long, with spicy and mineral notes.

Occasion and Pairing

Ideal with structured, intensely flavoured dishes: braised or roasted red meats, game, and dishes featuring white Alba truffles.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 16–18°C.

Allergens: Solfiti

THE WINERY

Roberto Voerzio

The Rocca di Frassanello project was born from an idea, indeed a need: that of replicating the model of excellence of Castellare di Castellina in a new territory. In the middle of the Maremma, between Bolgheri and Scansano, where a kind of geological foot arrives that has the same characteristics of Chianti and Montalcino, of which it is in fact a sort of extension towards the sea. This area, so incredibly popular for the cultivation of the vine, is included in the municipalities of Gavorrano and Roccastrada. It is precisely there that the first, and today unique, Italian-French joint venture project for wine production took shape. It took two years to combine the five farms that make up the 500 hectares of Rocca di Frassinello, the hectares of vineyards planted are now about 90. The project, already extremely ambitious, was further enhanced by a choice made to crown the birth of the winery of Rocca di Frassinello with the most prestigious possible signature: that of Renzo Piano. Name and address of producer/distributor: Azienda vinicola Rocca di Frassanello - Località Poggio la Guardia, 58023 Giuncarico (GR). The products of this cellar should be stored in a cool and dry place away from heat sources.
