TASTING NOTES

Production

Dal Forno Romano is based in Veneto, in the heart of Valpolicella: an iconic estate that has redefined the quality standards of Amarone thanks to an obsessive pursuit of perfection. Amarone della Valpolicella is made from a blend of native grapes – Corvina, Rondinella, Croatina and Oseleta – grown in the estate’s own vineyards and subjected to a long natural drying process. A Veneto red wine of extraordinary concentration, produced from a rigorous selection of grapes and aged for long periods in barriques

Organoleptic Characteristics

Deep, impenetrable garnet red in the glass, the nose reveals a broad, deep bouquet with notes of black cherry in alcohol, prunes, black fruit jam, sweet spices, dark chocolate, liquorice and tobacco. It impresses with its power and complexity, accompanied by great aromatic finesse. Dal Forno Romano’s Amarone della Valpolicella is sumptuous and enveloping on the palate, with an imposing structure, silky tannins and an extraordinary balance between softness and freshness. The finish is extremely long and persistent, with elegant balsamic and spicy notes.

Occasion and Pairing

Perfect for special occasions and moments of contemplation, it pairs magnificently with rich, structured dishes such as braised meats, game, substantial roasts and very mature cheeses. Also ideal on its own, as a wine for tasting.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 16–18°C.

THE WINERY

Dal Forno Romano

Damijan Podversic, supported by his wife Elena, has managed to fulfil his childhood dream of producing great grapes varieties to create a great wine. The most important vineyards of the Damijan winery, in addition to the small parcels scattered in the Collio, are located on the wooded slopes facing south of Monte Calvario, on the outskirts of Gorizia, in an uncontaminated environment that is perfect for growing healthy and tasty grapes. Conceived from Damijan's desire to enhance the old abandoned vineyards on a terroir perfect for viticulture, the winery now has six hectares covered with vineyards, respectful of the ecosystem in which it operates. The viticulture practiced by Damijan is rigorously organic, fully attentive to the balance and health of the plants and to safeguarding the surrounding area. From the lands of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, cultivated with passion by the winemakers of the Damijan winery, varied and typical wines of the area are created, such as Ribolla Gialla, Malvasia Istriana and Friulano. Name and address of producer/distributor: Damijan - Via degli Eroi, 33, 34170 Gorizia GO. Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
