TASTING NOTES

Alto Adige Riserva Mazzon consists of 100% Pinot Noir grapes, grown on a renowned cru located in the Alto Adige region. The must ferments in steel and during this period the must is regularly reassembled and folled to ensure a good extraction of color, aromas and tannins from the skins. After alcoholic fermentation, the wine is left to macerate with the skins for another 10-20 days, depending on the vintage, to intensify the structure and complexity of the wine. The wine is aged in French oak barrels for a period of 18-24 months. During this time, the wine matures, developing complexity and integrating tannins. The use of new and used barriques helps to balance the notes of wood with fruit. The glass has a ruby red color with garnet reflections. The bouquet is elegant and complex, characterized by notes of red fruits such as cherry, raspberry and strawberry. Floral shades of rose and violet follow, accompanied by spicy notes of black pepper, cinnamon and vanilla. With aging, tertiary notes of undergrowth, tobacco and leather emerge. On the palate it is refined and harmonious, with silky tannins and well integrated. The acidity is balanced by fruity richness and aromatic complexity. The finish is long and persistent, with an aftertaste that recalls the fruity and spicy notes perceived to the nose.It goes perfectly with dishes based on red meat, game, duck and aged cheeses. Excellent also with dishes based on mushrooms and truffles. To fully appreciate the style, this wine should be served at a serving temperature of 16/18 ºC Read more Read less
THE WINERY

Bruno Gottardi

When it comes to Pinot Noir in Italy, the reference to the Gottardi winery is inescapable. In 1986, the Gottardi family acquired the first vineyard on the Mazzon hills, known as the paradise of Pinot Noir, and started making wine from their own grapes. After carefully restoring the rows of vines and building a modern vinification wine cellar, it was in 1995 that the first vintage was bottled, which immediately achieved very high levels of quality. Currently with around nine hectares of vineyards, the company is owned and managed by Alexander Gottardi, who has turned the high standards achieved in the past into a constant challenge for improvement and future developments. Between the rows of vines, the plants grow on soils rich in sandstone and limestone, enjoy a particularly favourable microclimate, and are cultivated with full respect for the environment, nature and the ecosystem. The altitude, the warm setting sun and the terroir make these hills an ideal place for the production of this variety. Mazzon Pinot Noir with its fragrant bouquet and unforgettable aroma has reaped countless critical and public successes and has been able to win the most coveted awards worldwide. Name and address of producer/distributor: Gottardi Alexander Waldemar 39040 Neumarkt-Mazzon (BZ). Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
