TASTING NOTES

Production

Short maceration on the skins with natural sedimentation. Malolactic fermentation and the subsequent 15-month ageing take place in large oak barrels, in a 3,000-litre oak cask on fine lees. Finally, the wine undergoes a further 6 months of stabilisation in the bottle.

Organoleptic Characteristics

This is a white wine with structure and character, which reveals itself on the nose with energetic, intense and layered aromas, initially fruity and floral, then evolving into softer notes of honey and sweet spices. On the palate, it is full-bodied and elegant, with an enveloping and persistent mouthfeel, featuring a pleasant acidity that in no way detracts from, but rather supports and enhances, the grape variety’s characteristic elegance.

Occasion and Pairing

Thanks to its elegance and rich bouquet, it certainly makes an excellent start to the evening, served as an aperitif with friends. It is also well-suited to accompany fish dishes, even elaborate ones, as well as white meats and poultry. Its ideal pairing remains with medium-aged cheeses.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 10–12°C.

THE WINERY

Hofstatter

The Hofstatter Winery is a historical symbol of Alto Adige, guarded by the imposing walls of a 16th century building in the province of Bolzano. The Hofstatter vineyards stretch across the eastern and western sides of the Etschtal, finding a home on soils with different characteristics and microclimates. It was precisely because of this peculiarity that in 1987, for the first time in this region, they were able to introduce the designation “Vigna” for seven of their wines. Heir to an ancient family of winegrowers, Martin Foradori continues to pursue Hofstatter's core objective to this day: to harmonise the centuries-old, unique tradition of their land with an eye for innovation. In fact, the immense heritage of the Hofstatter estate has not precluded the use of modern technology to create a state-of-the-art winery, where new, low-energy concrete barrels are housed. The exceptional finesse of Hofstatter wines confirms that this goal is achieved year after year, yielding sublime examples of both whites, such as the renowned Gewürztraminer, and reds, such as Pinot Noir, that are recognised even beyond Italian borders. Name and address of producer/distributor: Hofstatter - Rathausplatz 7 - 39040 Tramin BZ. Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
