TASTING NOTES

The company history began in 1823, when Johann Lageder, apprentice artisan, started trading wines in Bolzano. His sons and nephews decided to buy some vineyards and produce wine themselves. Today, the family's 50 hectares of vineyards are cultivated entirely using the biodynamic method. An important objective of biodynamics is the full natural cycle. The farm functions as an organic microcosm, where a wide variety of plants and animals coexist alongside humans. The winery is located in Magrè, on the outskirts of Bolzano, producing around 1.5 million bottles per year in three different lines, from around 170 hectares of vineyards. Alois Lageder's Alto Adige Chardonnay Löwengang is a white wine from Trentino made with Chardonnay grapes sourced from the best vineyards in Magrè and located at an altitude of between 230- 330 metres on sandy, gravelly and very chalky soils. Fermentation takes place in both barriques and large wooden barrels remaining in contact with the lees for at least a year, while maturation allows the wine to rest for about 12 months in the bottle. Golden yellow in colour, on the nose this wine delivers delicate hints of white-fleshed fruit, followed by floral, buttery and roasted notes. Mineral and savoury notes dominate the palate, accompanied by hints of fruit. A firmly structured and very long-lived wine, perfect with Sunday lunch and pairs well with a mixed cheese board. THE WINERY

Alois Lageder

Alois Lageder is synonymous with outstanding quality in bio-dynamic wine-growing with its Alto Adige white wines. Tradition and innovation are skilfully combined in the company's production, creating a unique product that tells a story from the very first sip. The company philosophy is inspired by a holistic and sustainable approach, where productivity is closely linked with respect for the land and the vines themselves. The winery also plays a central role in the area's many artistic and cultural activities. Unsurprisingly, it is one of the most visited wine destinations in the entire region. Founded in 1823, with the current owner the winery is now in its fifth generation. The outstanding wines of the Alois Lageder winery represent the full diversity of the Alto Adige terroir. The rigorous selection of the best grapes, the attention paid to organic growing and the passion of the winery will result in a glass of the most authentic side of Alto Adige, which must all be experienced. Name and address of producer/distributor: Alois Lageder - Vicolo dei Conti, 9, 39040 Magré Sulla Strada del Vino BZ. Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
