TASTING NOTES

Unique, world-famous wines are produced in the stunning, picturesque Val d'Illasi, just east of Verona, which have put Veneto on the map as a leader in global wine production. The company has evolved its vision by redeveloping their selection and reviving different varieties: they no longer use Molinara grapes and have even rediscovered previously abandoned native vines. TheAmarone della Valpolicella Romano Dal Forno is made from the best vines over ten years old. Amarone Dal Forno is made from 60% Corvina, 20% Rondinella, 10% Croatina and 10% Oseleta grapes which are carefully harvested by hand from mid-September to the end of October, left to dry for three months and then pressed around mid-December. It is fermented in steel tanks and towards mid-January, after decantation, the wine is placed in new barriques where a very slow second fermentation resumes (due to the residual sugar) for 18 months. It is aged in barriques for 2 years, then aged for 3 years in the bottle before being put on the market. It has an intense and impenetrable ruby red colour, symphonies of black cherries, blueberries, vanilla, chocolate as well as striking notes of truffles, tobacco and leather. Soft and persuasive with a long, full and memorable finish. The tannins are velvety and smooth. Powerful, vigorous, complex and elegant, this Amarone perfectly sums up the company's philosophy of producing slow, thoughtful wines that take their time. To fully appreciate this wine, it should be served at 16/18°C. Read more Read less
THE WINERY

Dal Forno Romano

Along the Lessini mountain range, not far from Verona and in the heart of the Val d'Iliasi, stands Cantina Dal Forno Romano. Since its foundation, the main purpose of the company has been to rediscover the native grape varieties. After a careful study of the land and the raw materials, it can be said that the raw material is now beautifully enhanced, and transformed into high-quality Venetian wines. In addition to the more traditional techniques, which have always influenced the winemakers of the area, the winery has been able to combine more modern and avant-garde techniques, always respecting the land and the timing of the vineyards. The redevelopment of the land and the vines proved to be a winning choice thanks to the final result, capable of expressing the love and passion for the area. Between the precious bottles of Valpolicella, Amarone and the prized Recioto Vigna Seré, you will be spoiled for choice. Name and address of producer/distributor: Dal Forno Romano - Località Lodoletta, 1, 37031 Cellore d'Illasi VR. Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
