TASTING NOTES

The hills of Cortona, villages, and small valleys typical of the Tuscan countryside, are what you see when looking out the window of the Santa Cristina winery. The Santa Cristina winery has undoubtedly always enhanced the terroir in which it operates with passion and professionalism. It is precisely from the philosophy of respect between nature, man and passion that their wines are born. Vin Santo di Santa Cristina is made from Trebbiano Toscano and Malvasia grapes, carefully harvested after ripening fully and left to dry in special drying trays. The grapes are then gently pressed and transferred to wooden barrels where alcoholic fermentation takes place. The wine then goes through an ageing period of about three years before being released for consumption. In the glass, the wine presents itself with an intense yellow colour with amber reflections. The nose reveals aromas of candied fruit, apricots, raisins and pastry notes. On the palate, it is soft and full-bodied, with a typical aftertaste reminiscent of dried apricots in syrup, and a freshness that makes the wine very balanced and easy to drink. Perfect with pastries, typical Tuscan desserts and sweet yeasted buns. Read more Read less
THE WINERY

Santa Cristina

Half a century of great Sardinian values and wines of the Denomination. The winery Santa Maria La Palma has a story that tells the valuable lessons of fatigue and daily work, a story that began in 1946 in the grounds of the Nurra, reclaimed and delivered to farmers following the Agrarian Reform that affected Sardinia immediately after the war. The wines of the estate told the will to build something great, without ever forgetting how much beauty and value are hidden in what surrounds us: boundless plains overlooking the sea, close to an inlet between the Gulf of Alghero and the Bay of Porto Conte. Today, between past and future, the company has 700 hectares of land, put to good use to give life to the different shades of Sardinian wine, with the same passion and dedication to work with the best technologies of today. The search for quality sees the selection of methods and techniques to obtain the best bunches, making the most of the Sardinian land. Immersed in a unique microclimate, the winery has given space to the vines of the Sardinian tradition, soon discovering in Cannonau and Vermentino the most important native crops for its production. Complementary souls of the same land, wines appreciated worldwide for their strong identity and structure. Name and address producer/distributor: Cantina Santa Maria La Palma - Loc. Santa Maria la Palma - 07040 Alghero (SS). The products of this cellar should be stored in a cool and dry place away from heat sources.
