TASTING NOTES

The Contini winery in the Tirso valley is led by the fourth generation and never stops evolving, both when it comes to vinification techniques and ideas. In the Sardinian language Mamaioa means “Ladybird” and is a symbol of the world of nature and the unspoilt environment. For this reason, the company cultivates grapes under an integrated farming regime with very little sulphites, and limits the use of chemicals in the vineyard and treatments in the production facility. Vermentino di Sardegna Mamaioa enjoys a Mediterranean climate with mild winters, limited rainfall and very hot, windy summers. The grapes come from a vineyard located on a limestone-clay soil that gives the wine minerality and freshness. Once harvested, the grapes are softly crushed and pressed, followed by alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Ageing takes place in stainless steel and cement, followed by several months in the bottle. Straw yellow in colour with golden reflections, it reveals intense notes of yellow flowers and slightly ripe fruit on the nose, with a spicy and saline finish. Intriguing and pleasant on the palate, it is characterised by its drinkability and pleasantness, leaving a caressing finish in the mouth. Suitable for many fish and meat based dishes, it excels on baked dishes. Read more Read less
THE WINERY

Contini

Cantina Contini has grown and matured like the wines and successes that have made it great, through the passion and commitment of no less than four generations. Almost 120 years old, the company is located in the Tirso Valley and on the slopes of Mount Arci with about 100 hectares of property. Represented by Vernaccia di Oristano, it has been joined over the years by other important productions such as: the historic Nieddera variety, Vermentino and Cannonau, Karmis, Attilio and the organic Mamaioa. Today, the company continues to evolve through the use of new vinification techniques, identifying the wines as memories and moments of nostalgia. Since around 2010, the Contini company has converted in part to organic farming, with the desire to listen to the needs of consumers who are increasingly attentive to the quality and authenticity of the products. The grapes are cultivated according to the dictates of uncontaminated agriculture, with a very low level of sulphites and the use of natural substances in the vineyards and in the various vinification processes. Name and address of producer/distributor: Azienda Vinicola Contini s.p.a., Via Genova n.48-50, 09072 Cabras, Oristano. Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
