TASTING NOTES

Production

Santa Sofia’s Valpolicella Classico is made from Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella grapes. After harvesting, the grapes are pressed and left to macerate in stainless steel for around 10 days. 100 ml: E=310 kJ/74 kcal

Organoleptic Characteristics

It has a brilliant ruby red colour. On the nose, it has a bold and broad bouquet reminiscent of prunes and cherries in alcohol, with hints of vanilla. On the palate, it is full-bodied with silky, velvety tannins and well-balanced acidity, finishing with a long, clean aftertaste.

Occasion and Pairing

This Venetian red wine is perfect for everyday drinking and pairs well with cold cuts and cheeses.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 16–18°C.

In Pedemonte, in the heart of the Veneto region and in one of the best-known areas for the production of quality wines, stands the Santa Sofia winery, inside an ancient aristocratic villa designed and built by the renowned architect Andrea Palladio. Since the 1960s, the winery has been in the hands of the Begnoni family, which has also owned it since then. With its 53 hectares of mainly stony land, the winery, under the leadership of the family, has always had the goal of expanding its distribution both nationally and internationally. Initially intending to offer all typical Veronese productions, the company has focused on specific products and selected crops over time, the products of which are harvested in the vineyard with extreme care at every single step. Today Santa Sofia produces and distributes very structured and elegant red wines, including Valpolicella Superiore Montegradella, Recioto della Valpolicella, Bardolino, Amarone, Arlèo, Merlot Corvina and Predaia.
