TASTING NOTES

Cantina Podere Fortuna is a small company situated between the hills of Mugello, on the side of the Tuscan–Emilian Apennines. The climate in this area is unique with a terroir suited to the production of fine Tuscan wines. Pinot Nero IGT Coldaia follows the company philosophy: organic style, fermentation in temperature-controlled truncated conical vats from 18 to 25 days and aged in lightly toasted oak barriques for one year. Resting the wine in concrete after ageing allows it to become clearer and stabilised, through natural means. Coldaia, which in turn has the same name as the vineyard cultivated on the left side of the hill, is particular in that it has younger vines, and is therefore fresher on the palate. Pinot Nero (Pinot Noir) is a wine with an intense ruby red colour, with notes of morello cherry, red berry fruit, and pleasant spices which on the palate reveal the freshness of a round-bodied, elegant wine with velvety tannins. An ideal wine to accompany meat-based dishes and for drinking with friends in front of a roaring fire.

In the heart of Tuscany, a few kilometres away from Florence, lies the Cantina Podere Fortuna and its acres of native crops. This small and important farm stands out among the hills of Mugello, on the southern slope of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines. This area boasts a very special microclimate, much exploited by the company in the production of Tuscan wines of the highest quality. The Cantina boasts about thirty hectares of land between the Sieve River area and the foothills: this area in particular boasts a cooler climate than other parts of Tuscany, and the vines raised here are cared for with the utmost respect for its unique characteristics. The study of the most innovative techniques, combined with a great awareness of local traditions, has ensured that the winery has established itself as one of the most interesting wineries in the entire region.
