TASTING NOTES

The Cantina di Poggio al Tesoro is located between the Tuscan hills, in area covering 70 hectares of vineyards grown with respect for the microclimate and nature, with a view to organic and sustainable agriculture. Found in the Le Sondraie vineyard, where the soils have a characteristic iron and magnesium content: Rosso Mediterra IGT takes shape here, 25 metres above sea level. Made up of 40% Syrah and the rest divided into equal amounts of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, once pressed, the grapes are fermented in stainless steel for 12 days. The blend is then aged for eight months in second-use barriques. Mediterra is a wine with an intense red colour, strongly indicating a wine with impressive body and personality. The typical peppery notes of blackberry and red berry fruit are the result of a very accomplished and popular blend which combines the identifying notes of the three varieties from which it is made. An everyday wine to be drunk with a delicious rare steak, and in any case with red meats: a sip of Tuscany from a different perspective.

Poggio Celsi's winery was born in the southernmost area of the Montalcino DOC zone, a short distance from the Castello dell'Abate area. The strategic location of its total ten hectares, seven of which are planted with vines, is exploited to the fullest for the production of Tuscan wines of the highest quality, which can best tell not only the story of the land, but also of the winery itself. This young and dynamic company has been able to treasure the knowledge of the most experienced winemakers, and has combined it with the latest technology to achieve a final product that is both elegant and complex. Study and commitment have defined the character of the Poggio Celsi winery from the very beginning, resulting in multifaceted products with strong character. Two wines in particular are born from Sangiovese grapes: the Brunello and the Rosso di Montalcino, which increase the popularity of the wineries year by year.
