Production

The Tuscan Le Volte dell'Ornellaia di Tenuta dell'Ornellaia is born from a blend of Merlot, Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon from selected vineyards in the Maremma and the Bologna area. Harvesting is manual and winemaking takes place separately for each temperature-controlled steel variety. The refinement continues partly in second-pass barriques, for about 10–12 months, followed by a short rest in the bottle. E: 100ml = 318 kJ/76 kcal

Organoleptic Characteristics

Deep ruby red color. On the nose it is fruity and harmonious, with notes of cherry, blackberry and small red fruits, accompanied by hints of sweet spices, cocoa and light toasted nuances. On the palate it is soft and balanced, with good freshness, silky tannins and a long and pleasant finish.

Occasion and Pairing

Elegant and versatile red, ideal for everyday cooking but also for informal occasions. It pairs with pasta with ragù, red meats, roasts and medium-aged cheeses.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 16–18°C.

Tenuta dell'Ornellaia is located a short distance from the village of Bolgheri, Tuscany. Of all the wonderful farms in the region, this is perhaps the only one to stand on land praised by one of the greatest Italian poets of the 20th century: In fact, Giosuè Carducci had written a poem about the monumental cypress avenue that leads right to the Bolgheri area and the gentle contours of the hills dotted with vineyards. The area's enduring charm and privileged terroir location has motivated the work of the winery, which is driven to do more and more to produce Tuscan wines that live up to their provenance. A work marked by passion and love for the land and its unique characteristics, which was accompanied by a meticulous study of the latest technologies and techniques. Selective harvesting done by hand, microvinification and storage ageing lead to a flawless end result, perfect in every detail and rich in character.
