TASTING NOTES

Production

The De Bartoli winery was founded in 1978 when the young Marco, with a degree in agronomy and a passion for racing cars, took over the family business, focusing on the quality of the Sicilian terroir. Traditional methods and native grapes for great wines, climbing ever higher each year on the wine scene. Terre Siciliane Zibibbo Grillo IGT Sole e Vento is a wine created in 1997 with the aim of expressing, in a single glass, the strength, simplicity and purity of the Marsala sun and the Pantelleria wind.

Organoleptic Characteristics

Zibibbo and Grillo, harvested by hand in the second and first weeks of September respectively, undergo fermentation in stainless steel using indigenous yeasts, followed by 7 months’ ageing on the fine lees in stainless steel. With a straw-yellow colour, Sole e Vento releases notes of white-fleshed fruits, with citrus hints on the finish. On the palate, it is lively yet balanced and smooth, with a mineral character and good length.

Occasion and Pairing

It pairs well with simple, savoury and not overly elaborate fish dishes, but is worth trying with stuffed shellfish.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 10–12°C.

THE WINERY

De Bartoli

Champagne De Vilmont honours the noble Marquis of St. Crevés, François Alphonse Donatien De Vilmont from the late 1700s. It is said that, as an officer in the royal guards of Louis XVI, after achieving an important military victory against the Austro-Prussian armies, he celebrated on the battlefield of Valmy by swilling a bottle of Champagne. Today, the De Vilmont brand demonstrates the same courage and pride by offering the highest quality product of the renowned AOC region, made from grapes from the Premier Cru Rilly La Montagne area, a short distance from the more famous Reims. Indeed, the world of De Vilmont is interwoven with the noble perlage of its effervescent wines produced according to the Metodo Classico. Name and address of distributor: Serena Wines 1881 SRL, Via Camillo Bianchi, 1 31015 Conegliano (TV). Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
