TASTING NOTES

Production

Soave Classico Calvarino di Pieropan is a Venetian white wine made from Garganega (70%) and Trebbiano di Soave (30%) grapes, grown on volcanic soils with an altitude between 200 and 300 metres and originating from the vineyard of the same name. The harvest takes place in separate phases to maximize the ripeness of the two grape varieties, followed by vinification and aging on fine lees in vitrified concrete tanks for at least a year, plus a bottle stop for a few months. 100ml: E = 314kJ/75kcal

Organoleptic Characteristics

On the calyx, it is a deep straw yellow with golden highlights; on the palate, floral notes stand out, with ripe yellow fruit and sweet citrus, with a finish reminiscent of hazelnuts and almonds. On the palate it is elegant, fresh and savoury, with a beautiful body.

THE WINERY

Pieropan

Piper-Heidsieck is one of the most iconic and prestigious Champagne houses in France, founded in 1785 in Reims by Florens-Louis Heidsieck with the ambition of creating “a Champagne worthy of a queen,” to the point that the first cuvée was presented to Marie Antoinette. The current name was established in 1838 from the union between the Heidsieck family and Henri-Guillaume Piper, marking the beginning of an international expansion that would bring the house worldwide success. In 1995, a modern winery was inaugurated, featuring over 200 temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to vinify each plot separately. The blends are carefully crafted, and the wines are aged for extended periods to ensure elegance and complexity. Since 2018, the young and talented Émilien Boutillat has led the cellar, bringing freshness and innovation while honoring Piper-Heidsieck’s signature style. In 2022, the house became the first Champagne producer to earn the prestigious B-Corp certification, thanks to its commitment to environmental sustainability, transparency, and the use of renewable energy. Piper-Heidsieck is also one of the most awarded Champagne houses in the world and was named “Best Champagne House” by Falstaff in 2021. Today, Piper-Heidsieck represents the perfect balance of tradition and modernity: a house that combines history, innovation, style, and environmental awareness, offering Champagnes that embody French excellence and elegance. Producer/distributor name and address: Piper Heidsieck, Reims – France, 12 Allée du Vignoble. Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
