TASTING NOTES

Production

Rosso di Montalcino bio is a characteristic expression of Sangiovese: a red that can easily compete with full-bodied Brunellos. The most widely grown red grape variety on the peninsula, it is harvested at the right stage of ripeness and undergoes spontaneous fermentation in wooden vats. The wine is then aged in 30-hectolitre oak barrels for 24 months. It is left to age in the bottle for a further 6 months before release. On the palate, it is elegant and balanced, noble and guided by refined tannins. A wine that is reminiscent of its Burgundian cousins.

Organoleptic Characteristics

The colour is brick red, with violet and garnet hues. It has aromas of blackcurrant, raspberry and cloves, with a pleasant floral note.

Occasion and Pairing

A distinguished red to enjoy with roasts, grilled meat and truffle-based dishes.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 16–18°C.

Allergens: Solfiti

THE WINERY

Poggio di Sotto

Pol Roger, a symbol of style and elegance, is one of the great names in Champagne: 170 years of history and six generations. Although the Maison has achieved undisputed worldwide fame and prestige even among the royal family, it is family-run, so much so that it is called the largest small Champagne house. Pol Roger created his Prestige Cuvée as a tribute to Sir Winston Churchill, mindful of the qualities he liked and sought in Champagne: robustness, character and maturity on the palate. The range of bottles produced is recalled by the classic Brut Reserve, a symbol of style for Pol Roger, accompanied by Reserve Champagnes. Excellence is translated into rigorous viticulture through a strict selection of the best grapes. Members of the Pol Roger family oversee all operations from the vineyard to the winery, including vinification activities. The grapes come almost exclusively from Grand Crus vineyards. That is why, every year, the family cares for and chooses the best blends, in search of the best cuvée. The purity and nobility of Pol Roger's signature Champagnes are the fruit of the family's savoir-faire. Name and address of producer/distributor: Champagne Pol Roger -1, Rue Winston Churchill, 51200 Epernay - France. Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
