TASTING NOTES

Production

The title ‘Re’ (King) stands out in the name ‘Recioto’, emphasising that this is the most noble of all wines, unique in taste and expressive richness, and one that requires greater care in production, which is deliberately limited. Recioto della Valpolicella DOCG is made from 50% Corvina, 20% Corvinone, 25% Rondinella and 5% Oseleta and Croatina grapes. Its characteristic sweetness stems from particular attention to fermentation: once removed from the pomace, the wine is placed in barriques at the natural winter temperature, which wisely slows down the process. The ancient art of racking, always within the same barrels, allows for the most perfect possible balance between alcohol and sugars. Ageing, for at least 12 months, then forges its unique and distinctive character. 100 ml: E=503 kJ/120 kcal

Organoleptic Characteristics

On the nose, it is a triumph of spicy notes: cinnamon, nutmeg and, even more pronounced, hints of cocoa, pepper and cloves; fruit then emerges, with notes of fresh plums and black cherries. On the palate, it is velvety, smooth and full-bodied with just the right amount of tannin. All these aromas are beautifully blended, complementing rather than overpowering one another, creating a truly sumptuous experience.

Occasion and Pairing

It is an excellent accompaniment to mature cheeses such as a Monte Veronese aged for over 9 months, or blue-veined cheeses served with jams or chutneys. A particularly fine pairing is with foie gras. Traditionally, it is paired with desserts made from shortcrust pastry, cantucci or sbrisolona.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 12–14°C.

THE WINERY

La Giuva

Giuva is a young company, it does not have an ancient production tradition behind it but boasts the desire to make itself known for the quality of the wine it produces. The name is an acronym that unites Giulia and Valentina Malesani, sisters who decided to give life to this extraordinary journey, together with their father Alberto Malesani, also present in the company name in that “La” of Giulia, an article that recalls her initials. The vineyards are arranged with a contrary exposure looking also to the west and north, ensuring an exceptional persistence of freshness and aromas in the wines, even after their natural maturation in small wooden barrels and refinement in the bottle. Furthermore, the territory is helped, respecting nature and the best Veronese winemaking traditions, to give its best in the creation of wines of great elegance, in which structure and finesse are in perfect balance. Discover the La Giuva wine collection on Signorvino and let yourself be won over by the elegance of Veronese wines. Explore all Veronese red wines. Name and address producer/distributor: Società Agricola La Giuva SS - via Trezzolano, 20 C - 37141 Verona (VR). The products should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
