TASTING NOTES

Production

Fattoria Mantellassi, a leading winery in Tuscany, played a key role in the establishment of the Morellino di Scansano Denominazione di Origine Controllata (DOC) in 1978.The Mantellassi family, originally from the Pistoia area, moved to the Scansano and Magliano region around 1860. Having always been winegrowers, in 1960 they began planting the first four hectares of vineyards in the Banditaccia area; today there are around one hundred. Fattoria Mantellassi covers 215 hectares across the hills of the Maremma in the municipality of Magliano in Toscana. The soil is tuff-limestone in nature, with a vineyard composition consisting mainly of red grape varieties: Sangiovese, Alicante, Cabernet Sauvignon, Morellino, Merlot, Canaiolo Nero, Malvasia Nera and Ciliegiolo; and white grape varieties: Vermentino and Sauvignon. Morellino di Scansano DOCG San Giuseppe is a Tuscan red wine made from 85% Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Ciliegiolo. It is aged in small oak barrels and rests for several months in the bottle. A selection of Morellino named after the San Giuseppe estate, an ancient stone farmhouse. 100 ml: E=322 kJ/77 kcal

THE WINERY

Mantellassi

The Antinori winery is closely linked to the history of the Antinori family, which, through the work and commitment of 26 generations, has established itself as one of the most important wineries in Tuscany. The winery itself was founded a few years ago, with local materials and minimal environmental impact, in full respect of the countryside and the surrounding area. The Antinori family has been dedicated to the production of the most renowned Tuscan wines in the world for over six hundred years. Over the centuries, family members have passed down techniques, secrets, and a passion for the area. If the Marchesi Antinori winery is still a point of reference for wine production in the area today, it is also because of the courage and wisdom of its family that it has managed to blend the oldest knowledge with modern and cutting-edge winemaking techniques. Love and respect for the area today go hand in hand with modernity, for an unforgettable final product. Savor the fantastic Tuscan reds wines of this Tuscan winery.
