TASTING NOTES

The Bennati winery boasts a proud history and is firmly rooted in Veneto's wine-growing tradition. In 1870, Antonio Bennati was born in Cazzano di Tramigna, a village not far from Soave. He began making wine as a young man, but it was in 1920 that he decided to create the Viticola Bennati company alongside his son Annibale. From there began a continuous production of the leading wines of Valpolicella, with a constant eye on innovation without turning its back on the past and tradition. A new wine cellar, new vineyards, and new projects for the re-evaluation of traditional local techniques, in collaboration with the University of Udine, make the Bennati winery one of the most avant-garde and leading wineries in the area. The Monte Lessini Spumante Durello Brut is produced exclusively from Durella grapes from vineyards located in the highest hillside areas with volcanic soil. This results in wines with excellent bouquet but at the same time balanced by flavour and freshness. Once the grapes have been harvested at the right degree of ripeness, they are taken to the cellar, fermented in stainless steel vats and finally re-fermented in temperature-controlled tanks using selected yeasts. These processes give this bubbly a great flavour and ease of drinking. In the glass, we can admire a pale straw-yellow colour with greenish reflections, the fine and persistent bead carries a long-lasting bubble in the glass. The bouquet is delicate and refreshing with notes of white fruit such as apple and pear, and hints of citrus and herbs. On the palate it's very fresh, pleasant and balanced with a pleasing tangy note, making it a very drinkable wine. This Charmat method is perfect for drinking on any occasion. Try it with a cold cuts board. Read more Read less
THE WINERY

Bennati

After Antonio Bennati, known as Toni Recioto, a nickname derived from the dried grape wine of the same name, had spent 50 years trading wine in famous straw flasks, his son Annibale founded the Cantine Bennati in 1920 in Cazzano di Tramigna, which today still offers the best wines from the Valtramigna area of Veneto. It is a winery in continuous evolution. New crushing machinery and a new logistics centre ensure efficiency and speed to meet demand. Bennati also has new vineyards where it is implementing plans to reassess the traditional production techniques of its wines. These plans also aim to enhance the offer, limiting production of high quality wines, which can transmit the values of the land with their scents and aromas. The excellence of the Valtramigna production area is an important factor that contributes to the production of some of the most renowned red and white wines of the Veneto region. These include lines of great prestige such as Valpolicella, Amarone, Lugana and Soave. Name and address of producer/distributor: Bennati - Via Legnaghi Corradini, 38 37030 Cazzano di Tramigna VR. Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
