TASTING NOTES

Production

The Bel Colle winery was founded in 1974 on the chestnut-covered hills of Verduno, in the heart of the Langhe, thanks to the vision and passion of brothers Franco and Carlo Pontiglione and Giuseppe Priola. The winery has always aimed to produce quality wines whilst respecting traditional methods and practices. In 2015, it was acquired by the Bosio family, who modernised the winery’s technology without compromising on tradition: vinification in stainless steel, and ageing of the great reds in large French and Slavonian oak barrels. The Nebbiolo Vento Di Terra is made exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes sourced from the Bel Colle estate’s younger vineyards, situated in the municipalities of Verduno and La Morra. This means there are varying altitudes, microclimates and exposures. This results in grapes that are highly diverse, with unique characteristics that give the wine a rich and distinctive character, varying constantly from year to year and always offering new sensations. The grapes are harvested by hand and placed in small crates to ensure they arrive at the winery as intact and healthy as possible. The winemaking process is traditional, with a relatively short maceration period and ageing exclusively in stainless steel. This makes this Piedmontese red a Nebbiolo that is pure, sincere and classic.

Organoleptic Characteristics

Visually, it presents a ruby red colour that is not overly intense. On the nose, it immediately reveals the liveliness and complexity typical of dried violets, rose hips and small red fruits such as currants and blackberries. Following this, a slightly spicy and mineral note emerges. On the palate, it is straightforward and sincere. It is fresh yet possesses excellent structure, with silky tannins and excellent balance.

Occasion and Pairing

All these characteristics make Nebbiolo Vento Di Terra a wine suitable for any occasion, offering a pleasant yet never demanding drinking experience. Try it paired with cured meats and cheeses.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 12–14°C.

THE WINERY

Bel Colle

In the splendid setting of the Langhe, in Piedmont, stands the Bel Colle farm. Since 1974, its founders, the Pontignne brothers and their friend Giuseppe Priola, have aimed to bottle excellent wines, enhancing the tradition and uniqueness of the area that hosts them. The Bel Colle vineyards extend into an area particularly suited to the production of Barolo, on a chestnut hill. The plots are located between 300 and 400 meters above sea level, enjoying favorable exposure and microclimate that give the grapes an intense and persistent aroma. In 2015, the company was acquired by the Bosio family, who applied several technological innovations to production processes, while still respecting the values always promoted by the Bel Colle winery. Large French oak barrels hold the important reds for at least five years, before they are transferred to the bottle. Sipping Bel Colle wines, you'll be enchanted by the garnet reflections and the spicy yet delicate aroma, characteristics sought after by all lovers of Piedmontese red wines. Savor the wines of the Langhe of this fantastic winery. Name and address manufacturer/distributor: Bel Colle - Via Castagni, 56 - 12060 Verduno (CN). The products of this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
