THE WINERYRomano Levi
The history of Romano Levi's company dates back to the 17th century when a branch of the family of Jewish origin started the first distillations in the Alpine valleys of San Giacomo, in the municipalities of Fraciscio di Campodolcino. For three centuries, these distillers, called “grapats”, emigrated during the grape harvest and vinification to the wine-making areas of Piedmont where they distilled the pomace to produce grappa with mobile distillers. Today, the company is run by Romano Levi and his sister Lidia Levi, who still distil using a discontinuous copper pot with direct fire, with which they have been working continuously for 63 years. His famous grappa bottles are represented by hand-written labels and then embellished with poetic phrases or naive drawings, small masterpieces that are now referred to as Wild Art. Grappas of great balance, aromaticity and simply extraordinary emotions made using the method perfected by Romano Levi and still respected today, guaranteeing the perfect preservation of all the aromatic and organoleptic components of the grappas. Name and address of producer/distributor: Distilleria Romano Levi - Via XX Settembre, 91 - 12052 Neive (CN). Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
