TASTING NOTES

The historic Monte Grappa distillery has been producing great distillates in Bassano del Grappa since 1957 and it is here that for some years now Roberto Marton has decided to create his own line of Made in Italy Gins. Thanks to his experience producing and distributing liqueurs and spirits, Roberto has decided to focus on artisanal production following the ancient Bathtub method, i.e. through a long cold infusion of the best possible quality botanicals. Although this method only produces small quantities (about 12,000 bottles in total), it is always of a high quality standard which is reflected in the brand’s success in Italy and all over Europe. Big Gino is a Venetian gin produced with traditional botanicals to which pomelo (the oldest citrus fruit cultivated by man) and allspice berries (also known as Jamaica pepper) have been added. The result is a soft, fresh distillate, with clear citrus and spicy notes, perfect as a base for cocktails or even better neat on the rocks, after dinner, during meditation.

The dream and passion of its founder has been handed down from generation to generation, as has knowledge of the territory and all the secrets for the production of Trentino wines of excellence. The distillery itself was built with love and dedication, in total harmony with the surrounding area, and the respect for nature and the landscape can still be recognised today. The winery itself seems suspended in time, as does its production, which still relies on many traditional techniques. With the passing of time, there have been additions with more modern and cutting edge techniques, allowing the winery to keep up with the times while maintaining a strictly historical imprint and great care for the land through organic and sustainable viticulture.
