TASTING NOTES

Friulano San Pietro comes from 60-year-old vineyards in Rosazzo, in the Colli Orientali and in particular from that part of the Galea occupied by green tocai, a biotype of tocai that differs from the yellow tocai (finer and destined for the two crus Galea and Brazan) due to its greater aromatic fragrance. The production process takes place in stainless steel, where the resting period on fine lees varies from six to eight months. On the nose it is reminiscent of flowers and field grasses: a subtle, almost smoky nose, played on reduction. So is the palate: full, contrasting, savoury, with a hazelnut finish typical of the variety. The delicacy of this white wine makes it a product that can be enjoyed every day, as an optimal pairing with fish and shellfish based dishes. Read more Read less
THE WINERY

I Clivi

Very old and mostly indigenous vines are to be found in the vineyards of i Clivi, a point of reference in the production of Ribolla Gialla in Friuli Venezia Giulia. Most are between 40 and 60 years old, but in some plots there are specimens not far from a century old. Sinking their roots into sandstone soil, they have a low yield per hectare, which guarantees the natural concentration and complexity of their fruit. Guarding such an important heritage, the Zanusso family has made territoriality and longevity the keywords of its business since 1996. The property's twelve hectares are divided into two DOC zones with different microclimates and are cultivated with different varieties: Ribolla Gialla, Friulano, Verduzzo and Malvasia. In the I Clivi winery, the grapes are processed avoiding the use of machinery as much as possible in order to preserve their integrity and uniqueness. The result of such finesse are white wines and sparkling wines with great personality and character, yet at the same time as light as a caress for the palate. Name and address of producer/distributor: I Clivi - Loc. Gramogliano 20, 33040 Corno di Rosazzo UD. Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
