TASTING NOTES

Production

Etna Rosso Riserva comes from the district of the same name on the northern slope of Mount Etna, known as the area best suited to quality wine production. More precisely, it is located in the municipality of Castiglione di Sicilia, at an altitude of 650 metres. Etna Rosso Riserva is made from Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio grapes. The Riserva comes from the estate’s oldest vines, whose grapes are vinified in wooden vats where they macerate for around 15 days. After racking, the wine is left to settle in concrete tanks until it clears, before being transferred to French oak barrels. From this point onwards, a long ageing process begins, which ends only after 3 years in the same barrel. The wine is then transferred to concrete tanks for a further 6 months before being bottled. This wine perfectly encapsulates the allure of Etna, where patience and time are essential for excellence.

Organoleptic Characteristics

In the glass, it is an intense ruby red, with typical mineral notes on the nose and distinct hints of red fruits such as morello cherry, caper, seaweed and red mulberry. On the palate, it is crisp and fresh, with surprising savouriness, length and fullness. It has good structure and is characterised by assured longevity.

Occasion and Pairing

A wine with an intense, spicy bouquet, perfect with roasts, boiled meats and other meat dishes.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 16–18°C.

THE WINERY

Tornatore

Cantina Tramin was founded towards the end of the 19th century, from the union of several mountain winegrowers who were looking for a way to defend their traditions and the unique characteristics of the Alto Adige region. Over the course of time, the winery has managed to produce some of the Trentino wines of the highest quality, such as the famous Gewürztraminer. Precisely because of this, the company has also managed to distinguish itself as one of the most important wine producers in Italy and the world, and is still one of the reference points for winegrowers in Trentino. The hectares are cultivated by combining the most traditional techniques with the most modern ones, in order to bring out the best not only of the qualities of the cultivated hectares, but also of the grapes themselves. An ambitious work full of passion, which manages to evoke the image of the valleys dotted with vineyards and the Trentino countryside in every glass. Name and address of producer/distributor: Tramin - Str. del Vino, 144, 39040 Termeno sulla Strada del Vino (BZ). Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
