TASTING NOTES

Production

Today, the Timorasso grape is the pride of the Savoyard wine scene and is making its mark on the international stage. Timorasso is deeply rooted in the Tortona hills and has been cultivated here since time immemorial. Its rediscovery has increased the area under vine from 300 hectares in 1987 to the current 1,500 hectares. It is a low-yielding and inconsistent grape variety but resistant to disease. It produces a very dry, full-bodied, structured wine with a high alcohol content that is well suited to ageing. Colli Tortonesi Timorasso Derthona is a dry white wine made from 100% Timorasso grapes. Harvested without the use of machinery, the grapes are selected in the winery and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks in contact with the skins for 48 to 60 hours. The wine completes its ageing in stainless steel and concrete tanks for a further 6 months. 100 ml: E=290 kJ/69 kcal

THE WINERY

La Spinetta

The company La Stoppa is located in Rivergaro, in Val Trebbia, on the first hills of the province of Piacenza, in the North West tip of Emilia-Romagna. Today the company is led by his daughter Elena, supported by Giulio Armani, present in the company since 1980. The estate covers 58 hectares, dominated by a regime of organic agriculture and all processing is carried out manually, both in the vineyard and in the cellar. Spontaneous fermentation and long maceration allow to obtain balanced wines with a greater extraction of polyphenolic substances, keeping the characteristics of each harvest well distinct. Name and address manufacturer/distributor: La Stoppa - Località Stoppa, 220 - 29029 Rivergaro (PC) - Italia. The products of this cellar should be stored in a cool and dry place away from heat sources.
