THE WINERYGrignano
A point of reference for viticulture in the Chianti Rufina area, north-east of Florence, close to the Apennines, lies Fattoria Grignano. The history behind this place is very ancient: the earliest records date back to the Bronze Age, not to mention the remains of Etruscan and Roman buildings that can be seen here. Well aware of its historical and territorial relevance, the Inghirami family purchased these 600 hectares in the heart of Tuscany in 1972.
The Grignano vineyards grow luxuriantly on clay and limestone soils, at an altitude of up to 400 metres above sea level. Together with excellent sun exposure and a microclimate consisting of climatic variations, these elements guarantee excellent maturation of the grapes, which are rich in aromatic notes.
Fattoria Grignano wines undergo intense ageing processes: depending on the designation, they pass from oak barrels or French barriques to bottles, where they stay for a further six months. Fruit of the peculiarity of the place and the extreme care of its managers is an elegant wine that best represents the character and freshness of the Rufina grapes, Sangiovese above all. Name and address of producer/distributor: Grignano - Via di Grignano, 22 - 50065 Pontassieve (FI). Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
