TASTING NOTES

Production

Grignano lies at the heart of Chianti Rufina, a historic wine-growing region. Chianti Classico Velaia is made from Sangiovese and Canaiolo grapes grown on the hills of the northern Chianti Classico area, specifically the Greve in Chianti region, which faces predominantly south-east. The clay soils and east-facing aspect lend the wine a natural freshness even in the hottest vintages.

Organoleptic Characteristics

Ruby red in colour, Chianti Classico Velaia reveals notes of red fruit, leather, tobacco and spices on the nose. Dry and medium-bodied on the palate, with good freshness and substantial tannins. Twelve months’ ageing in large casks lends toasted notes to the finish.

Occasion and Pairing

A bottle to place at the centre of the table and savour at leisure during a Sunday lunch, pairing it with substantial white meat and vegetable dishes.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 16–18°C.

Allergens: Solfiti

THE WINERY

Grignano

Grosjean has been working with the land and its fruits for generations: a representative winery of the Aosta Valley, synonymous with excellence and quality while respecting the best traditions of mountain viticulture. The history of the Grosjean family dates back to the late eighteenth century with a property today of 15 hectares divided into many parcels distributed in the most suitable areas of the territory. Today the winery is run by brothers and cousins who share the tasks in order to cover all the roles of the company. Since 2011, the company has been working in certified organic farming, in full respect of the pristine Alpine natural environment. Grosjean’s wines are simple, straightforward and true to tradition. Name and address manufacturer/distributor: Azienda Grosjean - Grosjean Vins, Villaggio Ollignan, 2 - 11020 Quart (AO) - Italia. The products of this cellar should be stored in a cool and dry place away from heat sources.
