TASTING NOTES

Maison Moët & Chandon was founded by Claude Moët, one of the largest Champagne houses in the world. A global icon of tradition and savoir-faire, whose undergrounds cellars are the largest in the Champagne region and the perfect place for bottle storage. Champagne Grand Vintage Brut 2015 is unique and conveys the personal interpretation of the year by the Chef de Cave Moët & Chandon. In Champagne, 2015 was a testing year of extreme heat and uncertainty with exceptionally red grapes. Champagne Grand Vintage Brut consists of 44% Pinot Nero, 32% Chardonnay and 24% Pinot Meunier. The grapes are characterised by a remarkable maturity and a maturation time of 6 years in the wine cellar. Then, there is a long maturation process on the lees and ageing after disgorgement of at least 6 months. There is a sugar dosage of 5g/L in the Extra Brut versions. A gentle, vegetal bouquet, this Champagne by Moët & Chandon conveys initial notes of bread, fresh brioche and almond on the first nose, before giving way to elderflower and jasmine. It then continues with a fruity aroma of white peaches and watermelon, before finishing with hints of the Mediterranean scrub. Direct and enveloping on the palate, it has a generous structure, broad and soft, redolent of cotton. The floral anise and menthol aromas bring a certain lightness and freshness. The finish lingers with a delicate bitterness that evokes fresh almonds. Champagne Grand Vintage Moët is a great pairing with raw fish appetisers, or mains such as seafood risotto, stewed fish spaghetti or fish soup. To fully appreciate its style, this Champagne should be served at a temperature of 8–10°C. Read more Read less
THE WINERY

Moët & Chandon

Since 1743 Moët e Chandon has shared the art of success and glamour around the world. Maison Moët e Chandon was founded by Claude Moët, and today represents one of the largest Champagne producers in the world and becoming the global icon of French bubbles. Tradition, generosity, savoir-faire, boldness, and elegance are the values that still define the Maison's global appeal. Built on limestone soil at a depth of between 10 and 30 meters, the Maison's cellars are the largest in the Champagne region and are an ideal place to store ripe bottles. Unlike most Champagnes, Moët e Chandon's Grand Vintages are made with qualitatively high-quality grapes from an exceptional vintage. Three main blends are used in the assembly of the entire Moët e Chandon line: Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay. Moët's winemaking savoir-faire consists of a manual harvest and the blending of wines from various areas, grape varieties, and vintages. This is followed by a period of refinement in the Maison's underground cellars. The most delicate phase consists of riddling and dégorgement, led by Chef de Cave Benoît Gouez. Try the wines from this winery such as Champagne Brut Impérial. Name and address manufacturer/distributor: Moët e Chandon, 20 avenue de Champagne, 51200 Epernay - France. The products of this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
