Tenute Delogu wines all capture the essence of olive groves, palm trees, the sound of the sea and the scent of the Mediterranean scrub. The company owns about 60 hectares of land divided between vineyards and olive groves in northern Sardinia, between Alghero and Sassari. Cannonau is an ancient variety native to Sardinia. Some argue it is native to the island while others claim it was imported from Spain or France, given its similarity to Grenache and Garnacha. Whatever its origin, its presence on the island dates back centuries and is a source of local pride and passion. Delogu's Cannonau Ego is a full, juicy and incredibly drinkable wine. It has an intense ruby red colour. The aroma reveals hints of Mediterranean scrub: ripe red fruits, eucalyptus and aromatic herbs. The mouthfeel is warm and full-bodied, with an interesting persistence and a fantastic mineral vein. Try it with typical Sardinian cuisine, red meat dishes and aged cheeses.
