TASTING NOTES

Production

Antinori’s Brunello di Montalcino Pian delle Vigne is a Tuscan red wine made from Sangiovese grapes. After soft pressing, these are transferred to stainless steel tanks for alcoholic fermentation, with 15 days of maceration. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is transferred to large wooden barrels, ranging in size from 30 to 80 hL, for two years’ ageing. This is followed by a long period of bottle ageing.

Organoleptic Characteristics

In the glass, it displays an intense ruby red colour. The nose is complex, offering a range of aromas from red fruit to tertiary notes such as chocolate, tobacco and spices. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and robust, with good freshness and well-rounded tannins.

Occasion and Pairing

An excellent wine to accompany your Sunday lunches; it pairs well with braised red meats, game or mature cheeses.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 16–18°C.

Allergens: Solfiti

THE WINERY

Pian delle Vigne

Not far from Montalcino, in the heart of the Tuscan countryside, is Tenuta Pian delle Vigne. For years, the Antinori family has been taking care of its vineyard hectares and every stage of production, in search of an innovative and multifaceted end product. Despite the study of the most modern techniques and innovations in the field of viticulture, the work of the estate is always based on solid local traditions. The secrets of local wine cultivation and production are based on ancient knowledge handed down from generation to generation, and still form the basis of every stage of processing. The estate boasts some 184 hectares of land, stretching along the gentle contours of the Tuscan hills. There are about sixty hectares under vine, alternating on land 130 metres above sea level. The local microclimate and soil properties contribute to the creation of a prestigious and traditional Tuscan wine that best tells the story of the estate and the entire Montalcino area. The company is most famous for its production of Brunello, one of the most popular wines. Name and address of producer/distributor: Pian delle Vigne - Località Pian delle Vigne, 53024 Montalcino (SI). Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
