The fame and glory of the estate began when Marquis Mario Incisa della Rocchetta took over the management of the winery and began the production of one of the best wines in the world. Sassicaia takes its name for the stony and gravelly composition of the soil in which it is born, a wine with a strong character, studied and wanted by the Marquis inspired by French enology and the Bordeaux area. Sassicaia is a Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, vinification and malolactic steel. Aging for 24 months in French oak barriques, 40% of new wood. The climate of the year 2009 was optimal throughout the year. The wine is an intense ruby red. The nose is an explosion of ripe red fruits, balsamic notes, vegetables, aromatic herbs and almond notes and vanilla. The mouthfeel is rich and structured, with a unique compactness. The wine is full bodied but has a nice acidic note that balances the taste. On the finish return red fruits and notes of dried fruit surrounded by a persistence and an immense balance. To be combined with the typical cuisine of the area, red meat and game. To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a serving temperature of 16/18 ºC.
