TASTING NOTES

Considered a spearhead of the winery of the same name, this Antinori-branded Bordeaux blend was first created in 1990, on vineyards rich in rock and substances that impart flavour to the grapes. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and a touch of Petit Verdot make up one of the most important red wines on the national wine scene. The selection process is meticulous: first in the vineyard, followed by two more sortings in the winery, before and after destemming. Each variety then follows an individual path, vinifying in stainless steel and resting in barriques for the time necessary to carry out malolactic fermentation. The vinified grapes are then blended and the wine is placed in new barriques, where it rests for 12 months. The colour is a sparkling ruby with great concentration. Intense and complex on the nose, with an opening of dark fruit jam, developing into sweet spices and final hints of leather and tobacco. Full and balanced on the palate, with silky tannins that develop in the mouth leading to a persistent finish. A bottle to remember and to keep for special occasions. Be sure to pair with red meat-based dishes. Read more Read less
THE WINERY

Guado al Tasso

Belonging to the historic and renowned Marchesi Antinori wine family, the Guado al Tasso winery enjoys an excellent international reputation despite only being established in 1994. Situated in the Upper Maremma Tuscany, in the area of Bolgheri, it covers about 320 hectares, set in the beautiful setting of the so-called “Bolgherese amphitheatre”, a plain surrounded by wooded hills stretching down to the sea. It is the particularity of this setting that provides a unique microclimate to the vineyards cultivated here. The usual temperature fluctuations to which they are exposed guarantee that the grapes have a strong aromatic flavour and perfect maturation. In fact, compared to the other Antinori estates, such as the majestic Castello della Sala, at the Guado al Tasso winery the harvest is usually carried out at the end of August, rather than in September. Soils of heterogeneous composition, composed of clay, sand, silt or pebbles, are home to both French red grapes from which prestigious red wines, such as Cabernet Sauvignon, are produced, and to vines from which remarkable white wines and roses are produced. Name and address of producer/distributor: Guado al Tasso - Loc. Scalabrone 57022 Bolgheri LI. Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
