TASTING NOTES

Production

The grapes, after harvesting, macerate for 20-30 days in stainless steel, fermenting spontaneously due to the presence of indigenous yeasts, and then mature in barriques, 80% of which are new, for a period of 24-30 months, after which bottling operations are carried out.

Organoleptic Characteristics

Intense ruby color, with hints of garnet at the rim. The nose opens with spicy notes of coffee and cocoa, then moves towards wild berries and sensations reminiscent of withered flowers. On the palate, it is full-bodied, strong, and vigorous, with a noticeable tannic grip that envelops the taste, giving it a pleasant persistence.

Occasion and Pairing

Ideal for special occasions and elegant dinners, perfect with red meats, game, and aged cheeses.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 18-20°C.

Allergens: Solfiti

THE WINERY

Domenico Clerico

Domenico Clerico is one of the most famous names among the modernists of Barolo. The winery, founded in 1976 in Monforte d'Alba, owes its development to Domenico and his wife Giuliana Viberti. Initially dedicated to the sale of grapes for social winery and fruit growing, the couple decided to make a leap forward, buying fine vineyards in the Barolo area and gradually expanding the property. The family philosophy is based on the idea that the quality of wine originates in the vineyard, with a careful and meticulous work in the vineyards, an aspect that has always been fundamental for the estate. After the death of Domenico in 2017, it was Giuliana Viberti Clerico, supported by winemaker Oscar Arrivabene, to continue the project. The estate extends over 26 hectares of vineyards between Monforte d'Alba, Serralunga d'Alba and Monchiero, all managed according to organic farming principles. Among the prestigious MGA (Additional Geographical Mentions) available are Ginestra, Mosconi and Baudana. Nebbiolo dominates the rows, accompanied by Barbera and Dolcetto, other typical grapes of the Langhe. The vineyards are located at an altitude ranging from 320 to 410 meters above sea level and are planted on soils rich in Marne di Sant'Agata fossils. The vinification takes place in steel, while the aging of Barolo takes place with the modernist method, using oak barrels, many of which are new, and also large barrels. Finally, the wines are bottled without filtration. The Barolo produced by Domenico Clerico are a perfect reflection of the robust and deep character of the town of Monforte d'Alba, but interpreted in a modern and refined way. Name and address producer/distributor: Azienda Agricola Clerico Domenico - locality Borgata Manzoni, 22/a, 12065 Monforte d'Alba (CN). The products of this cellar should be stored in a cool and dry place away from heat sources.
